Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Backend (Python)

Job Description: The Senior Backend Engineer will own significant parts of Lean’s core platform — building reliable, high-performance Python services that power Open Banking and Open Finance connectivity across MENA’s banking ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance Python backend services for Lean’s Open Finance platform
• Own and improve core API infrastructure including bank connectivity, data aggregation, and payment initiation services
• Build scalable microservices with high reliability, observability, and performance standards
• Partner with Product, Data, and Client Engineering teams on new API capabilities and integrations
• Contribute to technical architecture decisions and drive engineering best practices
• Write well-tested, documented code and participate actively in code reviews
• Monitor production systems and drive reliability improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to Lean’s engineering culture

Qualifications Needed:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering with strong Python proficiency in production environments
• Experience building and maintaining high-throughput RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong cloud infrastructure skills (AWS or GCP) and containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with financial APIs, Open Banking protocols, or payment system integrations preferred
• Excellent engineering fundamentals: testing, documentation, observability, and CI/CD
• Arabic language skills preferred; must be based in or willing to relocate to Riyadh
