Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

Job Description: The Senior Backend Engineer will own significant backend components — designing high-performance, secure APIs and services, leading technical design discussions, mentoring junior engineers, and driving backend reliability and scalability across Ziina’s rapidly growing platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services for Ziina’s payment platform
• Lead technical design for complex backend features including payment processing, wallet management, transaction reconciliation, and banking integrations
• Build and maintain integrations with UAE payment rails, banking partners, and the CBUAE payment infrastructure
• Ensure backend reliability, security, and performance through comprehensive testing, monitoring, and observability
• Review code and provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
• Partner with Product and Design teams to build backend capabilities for new payment and banking features
• Contribute to Ziina’s backend architecture decisions and technical roadmap
• Monitor production systems and lead incident response for backend issues

Qualifications Needed:

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience in production consumer or payments applications
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, Go, or similar — with deep REST API and microservices expertise
• Experience with payment system integrations, financial APIs, and banking infrastructure
• Strong cloud infrastructure skills (AWS/GCP) and containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Understanding of UAE payment regulations and CBUAE infrastructure preferred
• Track record of technical leadership and mentoring in a fast-paced product environment
