Job Title: Compliance Senior Manager – Digital Asset

Job Description: Build, lead, and manage the compliance framework for Wise’s new stablecoin and virtual asset services in Dubai, licensed by VARA. Serve as the designated Virtual Asset Compliance Officer (VACO) and primary point of contact with VARA, shaping compliance strategy for Wise’s UAE entity from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the designated Virtual Asset Compliance Officer (VACO) as required by VARA, holding ultimate responsibility for the integrity and effectiveness of the compliance framework
• Own the relationship with VARA, serving as the point of contact for all licensing, reporting, examinations, and strategic regulatory engagement
• Build and maintain a robust, scalable compliance programme tailored to the VARA framework
• Oversee the maintenance of Wise’s VARA licence and monitor, interpret, and advise the business on all regulatory developments from VARA and other relevant UAE authorities
• Localise and implement Wise’s global compliance policies to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and compliant with VARA rules
• Develop and deliver targeted training to the Board and senior management on the VARA framework and specific risks associated with virtual assets
• Work closely with global teams across Product, Legal, Operations, and Engineering to launch and scale virtual asset products safely and compliantly

Qualifications Needed:

• Minimum 8 years of compliance experience, with demonstrable hands-on expertise in the virtual assets or cryptocurrency sector
• Relevant certification preferred (e.g., CAMS, CCEP, CRC, or equivalent)
• Deep knowledge of the VARA regulatory framework and UAE virtual asset laws
• Proven experience as a designated compliance officer or MLRO at a VARA-regulated or comparable entity
• Strong understanding of key risks and industry best practices in virtual assets and stablecoin services
• Excellent stakeholder management and regulatory engagement skills
