Job Title: Backend Software Engineer – Open Finance

Job Description: The Backend Software Engineer will work on Lean’s core API infrastructure — building, maintaining, and optimizing the financial data and payment connectivity APIs that sit at the heart of the MENA Open Finance ecosystem

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend APIs and services powering Lean’s Open Banking and Open Finance platform
• Develop and optimize financial data connectivity integrations with banks, financial institutions, and payment networks across Saudi Arabia and UAE
• Contribute to the reliability, scalability, and performance of Lean’s core API infrastructure
• Partner with Product, Data, and Client teams to deliver new API capabilities and integrations
• Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code that meets Lean’s engineering standards
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices and standards
• Monitor production systems and respond to incidents affecting platform reliability
• Contribute to technical documentation and API specification development

Qualifications Needed:

• 3–6 years of backend software engineering experience in a production environment
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, Go, Node.js, or Java)
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices
• Understanding of financial data APIs, Open Banking protocols, or payment systems integration
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, documentation, and code review
• Arabic language skills preferred; must be based in or willing to relocate to Riyadh
