Job Title: Python Backend Engineer

Job Description: As a Python Backend Engineer specializing in microservices and APIs for a banking and financial technology company, you will be responsible for designing and building high-performance Python backend services with deep expertise in distributed systems and performance optimisation, along with exposure to modern cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build high-performance Python backend services for a banking and fintech platform
• Apply deep expertise in Python, distributed systems, and performance optimisation to backend engineering challenges
• Develop and maintain microservices and APIs across cloud-native banking and fintech platform infrastructure
• Ensure backend systems meet the performance, security, and reliability standards required in a regulated banking environment
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams on backend feature delivery and platform architecture
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards across the Python backend engineering team
• Implement observability, monitoring, and performance optimisation for production microservices
• Stay current on Python ecosystem developments and cloud-native backend engineering best practices

Qualifications Needed:

• Deep expertise in Python, distributed systems, and performance optimisation — required
• Exposure to modern cloud-native architectures — required
• Proven senior backend engineering experience building production microservices and APIs for fintech or banking platforms
• Strong cloud engineering skills (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration experience
• Experience in fintech, banking, or financial services backend engineering preferred
• Strong technical collaboration and code review skills for distributed engineering teams
