Job Title: Staff Engineer (Payments)

Job Description: The role leads large-scale technical initiatives, establishes engineering standards, and drives the design of scalable, secure, and low-latency payment systems.

Responsibilities:

• Define, evolve, and own the technical architecture of EquitiPay platforms
• Lead the design of scalable, secure, resilient, and low-latency payment systems
• Drive cross-team technical initiatives and platform modernization projects
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and system governance
• Mentor engineers and lead complex technical decision-making
• Partner with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to embed technical standards across the business

Qualifications Needed:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fintech or payments
• Strong expertise in backend and distributed systems architecture
• Deep understanding of payment systems and transaction lifecycles
• Experience with cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Kafka/Event Hubs, Redis, and microservices
• Strong knowledge of reliability, observability, and performance optimization
• Proven experience leading large-scale technical and architectural initiatives
• Hands-on experience with high-availability and low-latency cloud-based platforms
