Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Backend (Fintech / Payments)

Job Description: Seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Backend development in Dubai. The role is within talabat’s engineering team — building scalable, reliable backend systems for talabat’s platform including its embedded payments, financial services, and super-app product lines.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain high-quality, scalable backend systems for talabat’s super-app platform including payments, financial services, and commerce products
• Work within cross-functional squads alongside Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineers to deliver customer-facing and platform features
• Apply continuous discovery practices to understand customer needs and translate them into backend engineering solutions
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical architecture, code quality, and engineering practices
• Build robust, maintainable backend services handling high-volume real-time transactions for talabat’s MENA user base
• Collaborate with talabat’s payments, financial services, and product engineering teams on new venture initiatives
• Implement monitoring, observability, and performance optimization across production backend services
• Use fast-moving engineering practices to ship impactful products in one of the fastest-growing companies in the world

Qualifications Needed:

• Senior-level backend engineering experience in production, high-scale consumer or fintech/payments platforms
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, Python, Node.js, or equivalent)
• Experience building and maintaining payment systems, financial technology integrations, or high-throughput consumer platform services
• Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute meaningfully to technical architecture discussions
• Experience with cloud-native systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Commitment to continuous discovery of customer and platform needs — ability to work in empowered engineering squads
