Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer – Payments Infrastructure

Job Description: As a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in Payments Infrastructure at a fintech company, you will be responsible for designing and building the core payment processing backend — developing high-performance, reliable, and secure payment infrastructure that processes real-time transactions for a growing UAE-licensed fintech platform. You will apply deep backend engineering expertise with payments systems knowledge to build production-grade fintech infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build core payment processing backend infrastructure for a UAE-licensed fintech platform
• Develop high-performance, reliable, and secure payment systems handling real-time transaction processing
• Build and maintain APIs, payment orchestration services, and settlement processing components
• Integrate with card schemes (Visa, Mastercard), payment networks, and banking APIs for payment infrastructure connectivity
• Ensure all payment backend systems meet performance, security, and regulatory standards for a licensed fintech
• Conduct technical design reviews and contribute to payments infrastructure architecture decisions
• Write clean, well-tested backend code with comprehensive observability and monitoring
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and DevOps teams on payment system delivery and operational reliability

Qualifications Needed:

• Proven senior backend engineering experience with specific expertise in payment systems and fintech infrastructure
• Deep understanding of payment processing, card scheme integration, and payment network connectivity
• Strong proficiency in backend languages (Go, Java, Python, or Node.js) for high-performance payment system development
• Experience building production-grade payment infrastructure for regulated fintech or payment service providers
• Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance and payment security standards for fintech backend systems
• Excellent technical architecture and collaborative engineering skills
