Job Description: As a Senior Backend Engineer – Checkout, you will architect and scale backend services that power checkout, payments, and promotional experiences, solving distributed-systems challenges and improving the performance, resilience, and quality of services handling high transaction volumes.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and scale backend systems supporting checkout and payment experiences
• Develop resilient services for promotions and transaction-critical customer journeys
• Solve performance and reliability challenges in distributed systems
• Design services that can support high transaction volumes and business growth
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders
• Improve software quality through testing, review, and maintainable engineering practices
• Monitor service behavior and address reliability or scalability bottlenecks
• Use modern development practices and AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity

Qualifications Needed:

• Strong backend software engineering experience in production environments
• Experience designing scalable and distributed service architectures
• Knowledge of checkout, payments, promotions, or transaction-processing systems
• Ability to diagnose performance, reliability, and resilience issues
• Commitment to clean, testable, maintainable, and well-reviewed code
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering and product teams
