Job Title: Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) – VARA Scope

Job Description: As a Money Laundering Reporting Officer with VARA scope, you will take full ownership of the AML/CFT programme for a Dubai-based crypto investment firm operating from its JLT office, serving as the primary point of contact for VARA inspections while managing transaction monitoring, high-risk client onboarding, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Review and disposition transaction-monitoring alerts via blockchain analytics tools, including risk analysis and escalation of suspicious activity
• Conduct enhanced due diligence and approve or reject high-risk clients, managing the full KYC/CDD lifecycle including UBO verification
• Perform sanctions and adverse-media screening, including investigation and escalation of matches
• File suspicious transaction/activity reports with the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit via goAML in a timely manner
• Ensure collection, transmission, and monitoring of required Travel Rule data for virtual-asset transfers
• Design, implement, and maintain internal AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls aligned with VARA’s Compliance & Risk Management Rulebook and UAE federal law
• Conduct business-wide money-laundering/terrorist-financing risk assessments and ongoing monitoring of the firm’s risk profile
• Serve as primary point of contact for VARA inspections and thematic reviews, and act as liaison with the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit

Qualifications Needed:

• Prior crypto-industry experience with direct exposure to VARA-related processes or regulations required
• Demonstrated experience managing an AML/CFT programme, including policy governance and risk assessment
• Experience coordinating regulatory inspections, audits, and independent testing of AML controls
• Ability to deliver staff AML training and maintain audit-ready records
• Willingness to work on-site in Dubai’s JLT area
• Reports functionally to the Head of Compliance, with a direct escalation path to the CEO and Board
