Job Title: Head of Legal

Job Description: The Head of Legal will own the full legal function — managing licensing applications, regulatory legal strategy, commercial agreements, corporate governance, and a growing legal team spanning the globe. The role works directly with the C-suite and reports to executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Deriv’s global legal function including regulatory legal, commercial legal, corporate governance, and employment law
• Own legal strategy for licensing applications, renewals, and regulatory engagements across 25+ operating jurisdictions
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including client terms, technology partnerships, banking agreements, and vendor contracts
• Advise executive leadership on legal risk, regulatory change, and strategic business decisions
• Build and manage the global legal team — including in-house lawyers, paralegals, and external counsel relationships
• Ensure Deriv’s corporate governance structures, shareholder agreements, and entity frameworks remain fit-for-purpose across all operating entities
• Lead legal input on M&A, investment, and strategic transactions as required
• Partner with Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Operations on cross-functional legal matters

Qualifications Needed:

• Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience in a senior legal role within fintech, financial services, or a globally regulated technology company
• Deep expertise in financial services regulation across multiple jurisdictions — UAE, EU, and Commonwealth markets preferred
• Proven track record managing global legal teams and external counsel relationships
• Commercial legal experience across technology, financial services, and SaaS agreements
• Track record advising C-suite and Board-level stakeholders on complex legal and regulatory matters
• AI-fluency and comfort using AI tools in day-to-day legal workflows
